Middle School Youth Ministry Outing

The Middle School Youth Ministry is planning an outing to the Fishercats Game on May 30th.  All Middle school youth of the parish and thier families are invited.  We have reserved 50 seats for the game.  If you would like to purchase tickets, they are $9.00 a piece. The game starts at 6:30 PM and fireworks follow. Please contact Donna at the Parish Office, 622-6510, for more information or to purchase tickets.

Walk Against Hunger

Jesus told us, “What you do for the least of these, you do for me”

In the spirit of these words, the Outreach Ministry begins its mission.   Fr. Bob has asked that our very first project be to organize a St. Pius X team for the Walk Against Hunger, which benefits New Horizons for NH.  He will be leading the St. Pius X team at this event, which will be held at 12:00 noon on May 18.

For those who do not know about New Horizons, it is a homeless shelter, a food pantry, and a soup kitchen.  New Horizons provides food, shelter, and counseling services to the poorest among us 365 days a year.  They never close, and they never turn anyone away.  They refer to those they help as “their guests”, and treat everyone who comes to them with respect and dignity.   This organization does not receive any government assistance, and relies on donations and volunteers to complete its mission to help the poor.    The Walk Against Hunger is their major fundraiser of the year.

The Walk Against Hunger begins May 18 at 12:00 at Veteran’s Park.  Walkers are asked to arrive at Veteran’s Park at 11:00 for registration.  It is a pleasant four-mile walk through the city.  We think this would be a wonderful activity for individuals, couples or families.

We are asking each ministry or committee to put together a team for St. Pius X.  There will be a prize awarded by Father Bob to the committee or ministry that raises the most money.  Don‘t belong to a ministry or committee?  Join us on the Outreach Ministry team!  Do you have children?  Join the Religious Education/Youth Ministry team!  All are welcome and there is always room for anyone on any team!  All registered members of the St. Pius X team will receive a tee shirt.

If you cannot walk with us on May 18, you can be with us in spirit by sponsoring our efforts with a donation to New Horizons.  Checks can be made out to St. Pius X.  Be sure to indicate in the memo that the donation is for the Walk Against Hunger.  You can place these in the collection plate at any time until the Walk, or you can drop off your donation at the parish office.

Thank you in advance for supporting this first project of your new Outreach Ministry. For more information or if you have any questions, you contact the Parish Office at 622-6510 or see one of the Outreach Ministry members after Mass. We will have sign up sheets and sponsor forms available.  Please help St. Pius X Parish lead the way to stamp out hunger!  Thank you.
